Web Design and SEO: Critical Partners

Posted on March 6, 2013 in Web Design by cmblogger

The old timers will tell you: in the past, a cool looking website might have been enough to bring conversions and impress your website traffic. How you ranked on the search engines was a subject relegated instead strictly to your site’s back end, with links as the currency by you achieved ranking. However, as search engines continue to evolve and the recent changes to Google’s indexing algorithm, everything has changed in terms of web design- and success with SEO. The two are now inextricably linked, the peanut butter and jelly of a successful marketing sandwich, if you will. Having one without the other is now impossible, or at the very most an experience akin bailing out a sailboat with a soup ladle, as a big hole develops in the stern. The impact of a site design on  SEO must be considered-and enhanced through super efficient site navigability, avoidance of the SEO kryptonite called Flash, and inclusion of keyword rich, meaningful content to your website. Concurrently, it’s not enough to have a site that ranks well. Traffic means nothing if it doesn’t translate into conversions. You must have a strong marketing message, with a design that allows your customers to understand your unique selling proposition almost immediately. Adding it all together may be challenging-but in the end, puts your company far ahead of competitors who are only now waking up to these new realities.
